(Truro, NS, Canada, December 3, 2007) - The Organic Trade Association today applauded significant investments in the organic sector by the federal government. This investment of nearly $1.3 million includes seed funding for the Organic Federation of Canada (OFC), a national stakeholder representative body for the sector, and for the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada (OACC), a world-renown research facility for the study of organic agriculture.
"We're very pleased," said Matthew Holmes, managing director of the Organic Trade Association (OTA) in Canada, "this is something we've been working towards for many years. The demand for organic products is growing so fast: it's wonderful to see the federal government responding by investing in this important market sector. The money announced today will establish a strong national representative body for the sector, while also helping us to have more information on the market drivers behind the growth we've been enjoying."
